Privacy policy

Sort Your helps you organise and pass on things around the home. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account details: your name, email address and sign-in method (including Google sign-in), so you can log in and we can contact you about your account.
Your inventory: the items, photos, notes, prices, categories and statuses you add, so the app can organise them for you.
Optional details you choose to share: your postcode area (to find nearby schools), the schools you follow, whether you have school-aged children, and the categories you want to track.
Messages and alerts preferences, so we can email you about things you've asked to hear about, such as newly listed kit.
How we use it
To run the service: storing your items, matching school kit with nearby families, sending alerts you've switched on, and preparing share links and messages you ask for.
Photos you add may be processed by our image-recognition services to suggest names, categories and prices. Photos and barcodes may be looked up against a product-identification service (Product Wallet) only when you ask for deeper identification. We never send your name, account details or ownership information with those lookups.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What's public and what isn't
Items you list for handover are visible to people you share the claim link with, and school kit you list may be visible to verified members of your school community. Photos of listed items can be seen by people with the listing link.
Everything else — items you keep, your notes, your schools — is private to your account.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Sort Your: cloud hosting and database, email delivery, and image/product recognition. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide the service.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how it's used. You can delete individual items and photos in the app at any time; email us to export or delete your whole account.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we handle your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete items or your account, the underlying records and photos are removed from our systems, subject to short backup cycles.
